Keedysville Town Council

July 5, 2011

The monthly meeting of the Keedysville Town Council was called to order at 7:00 pm with the following members present: Mayor Matt Hull, Assistant Mayor Barry Levey, Council Members Richard Walton and Victoria Gudeman, Town Attorney Ed Kuxzynski and Town Administrator Rick Bishop.

Minutes from June 6, 2011 were read and approved.

General Fund Report was $227,673.91.

The annexation of approximately 18 acres on the north end of Town owned by Judge Bostetter was approved. To that end the following four motions were made and approved.

---Mr. Levey made a motion to pass an emergency ordinance the ordinance entitled "The Ordinance making a determination that a certain property is no longer needed or able to be utilized for a public purpose." Mr. Walton seconded. The motion passed unanimously. ---Mr. Walton made a motion to "accept an ordinance authorizing the acquisition of certain real estate pursuant to the provisions of Article 23a of the annotated code of Maryland." Mr. Levey seconded. The motion passed unanimously. ---Ms. Gudeman made a motion to adopt as a resolution of the Mayor & Council to enlarge the corporate boundaries and thereby amend the corporate boundaries and establish the zoning classification of the area to be annexed. Mr. Walton seconded. The motion passed unanimously. ---Mr. Levey made a motion to adopt a resolution of the Mayor & Council to enlarge the corporate boundaries of Keedysville. Mr. Walton seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

Mayor Hull noted that the heat pump replacement at the library was still in process.

Mayor Hull noted that the tree behind Town Hall was down and most of the wood had been removed.

Mayor Hull noted the progress of the erection of the sign for Town Hall.

Tom Sweeney of the American Cancer Society spoke to the Mayor & Council about the Relay for Life.

Mr. Bishop discussed Phase II of the Watershed Implementation Plan for the Chesapeake Bay.

Mr. Levey made a motion to donate $1000.00 to the Sharpsburg Area EMS. Ms. Gudeman seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

Mr. Levey made a motion to fund the moon bounce for the Keedysville Ruritan Festival up to $200.00 Mr. Walton seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

Mr. Walton made a request to approach the residents at 10 So. Main St. and 3/5 No. Main St. and ask them to remove the couch and recliner, respectfully, from the sidewalks in front of the residences.
