Keedysville Town Council

September 6, 2011

The monthly meeting of the Keedysville Town Council was called to order at 7:00 pm with the following members present: Mayor Matt Hull, Assistant Mayor Barry Levey, Council Members Richard Walton, Victoria Gudeman and Tim Robertson and Town Administrator Rick Bishop.

Minutes from August 1, 2011 were read and approved.

General Fund Report was $287,727.97.

There was discussion about the possible change to the Zoning Ordinance regarding moveable sheds. It was decided to leave the ordinance unchanged unless and until the Planning & Zoning Committee felt a change was needed.

Regarding the recommendation Mr. Walton made at the August meeting, Mr. Robertson made a motion to begin the Mayor & Council meetings with the Pledge of Allegiance. Mr. Walton seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

Curb side recycling was discussed. It was agreed to post in the upcoming newsletter and the website a request for input from the residents.

Mr. Bishop noted the meetings with the Washington County Emergency Management Agency to update the Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan as required by FEMA. He also noted the new Emergency Alert System maintained by Washington County, and available to all residents. Lastly, he noted the upcoming meeting for elected officials regarding Phase II of WIP.

Mayor Hull updated the Council on replacement of the heat pump at the library.

Mr. Levey noted a street sign at the intersection of Bedrock Lane and Bedrock Circle and disrepair of the culvert at the same location.

Mr. Bishop noted that an ad for the Snow Removal Bids will be placed with the intention of awarding the bid at the October meeting.

David Bajuscak, representing the Cannon Ridge HOA, asked about the process regarding transfer of ownership of three of the storm water management ponds to the from Dan Ryan Builders to the Town. He wanted to know so he could schedule the HOA's mowing contractor. He was advised that the Town could not maintain the ponds until a deed was transferred to the Town.

Ken Lord's appointment to the Planning & Zoning Commission was discussed. Planning & Zoning would be advised that the Mayor & Council were looking for a recommendation regarding the appointment.

Mr. Bajuscak said that in regards to placing street lights in Cannon Ridge, the HOA was waiting on input from Potomac Edison.
