Keedysville Town Council

June 3, 2013

The monthly meeting of the Keedysville Town Council was called to order at 7:00 pm with the following members present: Mayor Matt Hull, Assistant Mayor Barry Levey, Council Members Richard Walton and Gina Ellis and Town Administrator Rick Bishop.

Minutes from May 6, 2013 were read and approved.

General Fund Report was $303,771.16

Mayor Hull discussed the proposed FY 2014 operating budget. He noted the addition of a budget line reflecting a carryover from the Snow Removal budget line to be used to place speed bumps in Cannon Ridge. Mr. Levey made a motion to adopt the FY 2014 budget. Mr. Walton seconded. The motion passed unanimously.

Mr. Bishop gave an update on sidewalk rehabs by SHA. He explained the possibility of SHA rehabbing some sections of sidewalk in Town, utilizing funds that must be expensed by June 30, 2013. He said that a prioritized list of sidewalks needing repair had been made and that all property owners had been contacted for their approval of a rehab. He noted that since then, SHA had said that because a possible streetscape project might occur sooner, rather than later, these initial sidewalk repairs might not happen. Miss Ellis asked if the funds that had been considered to be used for the sidewalk repairs might be used to remove trees in preparation for a streetscape project. SHA would be approached with that idea.

Mr. Bishop noted that the planned repair work, by Washington County Roads, on the bridge over the Little Antietam on Coffman Farms Rd. would be delayed, possibly until 2014.

The property owners at 92 So. Main St. and 94 So. Main St. have proposed splitting a third lot, located between their two lots and owned by the owner of 94 So. Main St., between each property. Planning Commission member Don Wiegel said that the commission voted unanimous approval on the change. Mr. Levey made a motion to accept the change. Mr. Walton seconded. The motion approved unanimously.

Randy Burns noted that the Keedysville Ruritan Club would be having an ice cream social in place of the usual Ruritan Festival on August 24th. He also noted a 5 K run that would be held.

Meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
