Keedysville Town Council

June 2, 2014

The monthly meeting of the Keedysville Town Council was called to order at 7:00 pm with the following members present: Mayor Matt Hull, Assistant Mayor Barry Levey, Council Members Gina Ellis and Ken Lord and Town Administrator Rick Bishop.

Minutes from May 5, 2014 were read and approved.

General Fund Report was $334,433.72

Mayor Hull noted that the security cameras in Taylor Park were in operation.

Mr. Bishop noted the meeting with SHA and Potomac Edison. He said that the Town was now waiting on specific costs for the various options for lights and poles.

Mr. Levey noted the motion he made at the May meeting to approve the proposed FY 2015 Budget. Ms. Ellis seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Mr. Levey made a motion to appoint Sarah Baker & Greg Carroll to the Planning & Zoning Commission. Mr. Lord seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

After discussion, the Mayor & Council decided to keep the bathrooms in Taylor Park open at all times. It was also decided to hire someone to clean them regularly.

Don Weigel asked about the status of the construction on the bridge. Mayor Hull noted that MDE has closed the creek to construction for fish spawning.

Randy Burns inquired about the possibility of Shentel running a fiber optic line through town. Mayor Hull said that it was in the planning stages and the P&Z should review the plan and provide comments to the Mayor & Council.

Sue Gemeny inquired about cell antennas on the water tank. Mayor Hull said that the proposal from Verizon was very disadvantageous to the Town so currently there was no viable proposal.

Eva Weigel said that there was a lot of speeding cars on Main St. in front of her house.
