Keedysville Town Council

July 1, 2015

The monthly meeting of the Keedysville Town Council was called to order at 7:00pm with the following members present: Mayor Matt Hull, Assistant Mayor Barry Levey, Council Members Victoria Gudeman, Gina Ellis and Ken Lord.

(The audio recorder was not started until the seven minutes into the meeting.)

Minutes from June, 2015 were read and approved.

General Fund Report was $258,088.33.

The Mayor noted that Town Hall would reopen on Thursday, July 9th.

Ms. Gudeman gave an update on the SHA Main Street project.

Mayor Hull noted the FEMA meeting attended by Richard Bishop. Steve Cvijanovich, of Fox Associates offered that he attended the meeting and gave a brief synopsis of the meeting.

Trees in Taylor Park were discussed. Eric Ellis noting that many of the trees are unhealthy and should be removed. He proposed beginning a tree replacement program. He also suggested planting a tree, with a nearby plaque, honoring the service of Mayor Ralph Taylor. Ms. Gudeman made a motion to purchase a tree and plaque to honor Mayor Taylor, using funds from the Hotel-Motel account. Mr. Levey seconded. The motion passed unanimously. Ms. Gudeman also made a motion to purchase up to $1,500.00 worth of trees for each of the next three years, using funds from the Hotel-Motel account. Ms. Ellis seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Matthew Powell, from Dan Ryan Builders, was in attendance to discuss the Stonecrest property. He asked the Mayor Council for concessions on the fees to enable his firm to purchase and develop the property. He brought a list of proposals that are attached to these minutes and discussed them.

Mr. Levey made a motion to donated $100.00 to Boonsboro for the National Night Out.

Alexis Ellis asked the Mayor & Council to donate to help send her to a twirling competition at Disney World. The request was tabled until the August meeting.

Mr. Lord relayed a question from a resident. He wanted to know if the Town would be willing to treat the Little Antietam Creek for gnats. The reply was no.
