Keedysville Town Council

July 5, 2016

The monthly meeting of the Keedysville Town Council was called to order at 7:01pm with the following members present: Mayor Ken Lord, Assistant Mayor Barry Levey, Council Member Gina Ellis and Town Administrator Rick Bishop.

Minutes from June 6, 2016 were read and approved. General Fund Report was $334,256.33

Dave Reichanbaugh presented a request from the Cannon Ridge HOA to install a speed hump in at the intersection of Sumter and Yankee Drives. Mr. Levey made a motion to contract with the winning bidder of the Mallard Lane project to also install the speed hump. Ms. Ellis seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Discussion was also had on contracting with the Washington County Sheriff's Dept for increase police patrols to focus on motorists running stop signs and speeding.

Mayor Lord noted the dedication ceremony in Taylor Park for Mayor's Taylor and Schwagel.

Mayor Lord noted that there were eight applicants for the two Council vacancies and that the Mayor and Council would meet before the next Mayor and Council meeting to discuss the applicants.

Mr. Levey made a motion to adopt the proposed FY 2017 budget ordinance. Ms. Ellis seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Mr. Bishop noted that the due date for bids for the Mallard Lane paving was July 21 and the bids would be open compiled for the August M&C meeting.

Mayor Lord noted the need for an ex officio from the Council to the Planning & Zoning Commission. It was decided to wait and see if the either of the new Council members would like to fill that position.

Mr. Levey made a motion to donate $100 to the National Night Out Celebration in Boonsboro. Ms. Ellis seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Mr. Bishop read a thank you note from Ms. Judy Kerns for the ceremony recognizing her father, Ralph Taylor's service to the Town.

Mr. Bishop noted that the contractor for Dan Ryan asked whether the Town would desire to have Dogstreet Rd. shut down for the trenching across for the Stonecrest SWM pond drainage pipe or to keep one lane open. The M&C said they want to keep one lane open at all times.
