Keedysville Town Council

January 2, 2017

The monthly meeting of the Keedysville Town Council was called to order at 7:00pm with the following members present: Mayor Ken Lord, Assistant Mayor Barry Levey, Council Members Gina Ellis, Judy Kerns and David Bajuscak and Town Administrator Rick Bishop.

Mayor Lord noted the announcements as listed on the agenda.

Minutes from February, 2016 were read and approved.

General Fund Report was $211,042.38.

Art Williamson was present to inform the Mayor & Council that a new boiler had been installed at the Keedysville Community Center and he thanked them for Keedysville's generous donation.

Rachel Nichols, the Washington County Assistant for the Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area (HCWHA) presented information regarding Keedysville becoming a part of the Heritage Area. (Tom Clemens gave an overview of Keedysville's participation in the Battle of Antietam.) Ms. Nichols said that benefits if inclusion included grant opportunities for the Town and individuals. She said that the Town would need to amend the Comprehensive Plan for inclusion. It was agreed that Tom Clemens would assist with the Town's application. Ms. Kerns made a motion to apply for inclusion into the HCWHA. Ms. Ellis seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Ms. Ellis made a motion to appoint Ken Lord, Gina Ellis & Judy Kerns as alternates to the Boonsboro Keedysville Regional Water Board. Ms. Kerns seconded. Motion passed unanimously.

Ms. Ellis asked about the status of street signs and post placements. Mr. Bishop said signs had been ordered and he would call SHA about assistance with placing posts in locations that are concrete and asphalt.

Dian Thompson said that she went online and that the re-plat for the Stonecrest subdivision had not been recorded. She also said, the upon researching the deeds for the Stonecrest lots, that the covenants are still attached.

Mr. Bajuscak said that he would not be able to attend the next Keedysville Planning & Zoning Commission meeting. He asked for a Council Member to fill in for him. Ms. Ellis said she would.
