Keedysville Town Council

August 4, 2008

The monthly meeting of the Keedysville Town Council was opened with the following members present: Mayor Hull, Asst Mayor Levey, Council Members, Brumage, Smith, Walton and Town Administrator Simmons.

Minutes were read and approved.

The treasurer's report was as follows: $120,783.41

Huntzberry has started work for the new sidewalk at Town Hall; weather permitting work should be complete within a few weeks.

Sheriff Doug Mullendore, Capt. Pet Lazich and Dept. Ken Cain were present to address problems at the North end of town. Captain Lazich gave a report on the number of call received in regards to the problem spots in town. 18 calls total for the year, 8 calls in the month of June and the number decreased to 3 for July. The sheriff's department has made a few arrests and issued several citations. The sheriff's department suggested that work with the nuisance and abatement ordinance to put pressure on the landlords who rent to trouble makers. The town will continue to work with the Sheriff's department in OT hours in order to put an end to problems and address complaints.

Mayor Hull requested data from Speed Sentry unit regarding Taylor Drive, Mayor Hull advised the possibility of speed bumps on Taylor Drive near park.

Citizens were reminded that sidewalks are the responsibility of each homeowner, a reminder letter will be sent in upcoming water bill advising residents that maintenance and upkeep is the responsibility of homeowners.

Complaints from the residents of Rockingham were voiced in regard to the upkeep of the SWM Ponds. Recently a homeowner mowed pond D due to height of weeds. David Brumage addressed the concern of placing all SWM Ponds on a mowing contract to stay on top of problem.

Area photos taken by Tim Robertson were presented to the Town for purchase to decorate the new Town Hall. Motion was made by David Brumage and 2nd Richard Walton to purchase 5 photos @ 150. Each for a total of 750. All agreed motion passed.
