Keedysville Town Council

July 7, 2008

The monthly meeting of the Keedysville Town Council was opened with the following members present: Mayor Hull, Asst Mayor Levey, Council Members, Brumage, Smith, Walton and Town Administrator Simmons.

Minutes were read and approved.

The treasurer's report was as follows: $108,756.35

Mayor Hull made an announcement that POS had approved funds in the amount of 91,000 towards the purchase of the Bank property. Also FY 09 funds for 10,800 were approved for upgrades to the Basketball court in Taylor Park.

Quotes for concrete sidewalk at the New Town Hall were reviewed, a motion was made by B. Levey to accept all inclusive bid from Huntzberry Bros, D. Brumage 2nd all agreed.

FY 2009 Budget was presented and reviewed. A motion was made by R. Walton and 2nd by B. Levey to accept budget as presented. Motion passed all agreed.

A proposal was introduced to hire a structural engineer to update floor plan for the Library building, motion was made by R. Walton and 2nd by R. Smith to accept bid and move forward with plans. Motion passed all agreed.

Town resident Judy Judge present a letter to the Mayor and Council advising of a "critical situation" occurring at the North end of Town. Mrs. Judge and other residents were present to complain of numerous activities such as fireworks, large gatherings, drunkenness and disorderly conduct, and intimidation. Mayor Hull and council members assured residents that problems would be thoroughly looked into and contact would be made with the Sheriff's Department for follow up. Residents were reminded to call Sheriff's Dept with any problems and to log a complaint and receive event #, so all activity could be tracked through law enforcement.

Resident Tom Clemens wanted to thank the Town and residents of Keedysville for the lunch and tour for the disabled veterans' of war, thanks to all the participants the event was a huge success. Thoughts are to hold a similar event next year.
