Keedysville Water Commission

May 2, 2011

The monthly meeting of the Keedysville Water Commission was called to order at 8:20pm with the following members present: Commission Chairman Barry Levey, Commission Members Matt Hull, Richard Walton and Victoria Gudeman and Town Administrator Rick Bishop.

Minutes for April 4, 2011 were read and approved.

General Fund Report was: $96,090.16.

Mr. Levey discussed the Water Infrastructure Upgrades.

He noted that there would be progress meetings with USDA and the contractors on Wednesday, May 11.

He noted that the tower erection has started.

He noted that due to the age and poor working condition of the existing valves on Main Street, a plan was being devised to replace a number of those valves during a onetime shut down of the water for the Town. This would help to facilitate the line replacement. He noted that the condition of those valves had not been made known to the contractor before bids were placed and the additional parts for this replacement would cost an additional $3200.00. This will need to be approved by USDA to move forward.

He noted the temporary line that is being placed and the need to relocate a couple of fire hydrants.

He noted the water line that runs through the bridge over the Little Antietam on Coffman Farms road and the fact that Washington County has scheduled work for the bridge in 2012.

Mr. Hull made note of the damage done to Appomattox Court, in front of the water tower site, when equipment was unloaded.

Mr. Levey noted the upcoming Regional Water Board Meeting on Wednesday, May 18th, in Boonsboro. He discussed Boonsboro's desire to handle the maintenance for the water tower and pump station after having originally required the Mayor of Keedysville to sign a MOU stating that Boonsboro would not maintain the water tower or pump station. This led Keedysville to get a proposal for maintenance from Washington County.

Meeting adjourned at 8:50p.m.

Richard Bishop
