Keedysville Water Commission
March 7, 2016
The monthly meeting of the Keedysville Water Commission was called to order at 8:08pm, with the following members present: Commission Chairman Barry Levey, Commission Members Matt Hull, Victoria Gudeman, Gina Ellis and Ken Lord and Town Administrator Rick Bishop
Minutes for February, 2016 were read and approved.
General Fund Report was $72,361.80
Mr. Levey asked Mr. Bishop to contact Huntzberry Bros. to continue the replacement of touch pad water meters with radio read meters.
Mr. Levey noted the recent BKRWB meeting. He said the Board is currently trying to write one new agreement between Keedysville and Boonsboro that would combine all of the previous agreements.
Mr. Levey noted the large increase in reported water use for one day, recently. As it turned out it was related to testing and flushing of the lines in Stonecrest. He said that no leaks have been detected this winter.
Mr. Levey noted the concern of a leak along the cul-de-sac on Mallard Lane. However, it was determined that this was from an intermittent spring caused by heavy rains and snow melt.
Mr. Bishop noted the hydrant on Mallard Lane, that had been knocked over by a plow had been repaired. He also noted that two valve covers and two meter covers, all in a cluster, on Bedrock Lane had been displaced. He said that Greg Huntzberry had been contacted to reset them.
Mr. Levey asked to have Freeman Industries inspect the water tank again this year.
Mr. Levey discussed moving to a tiered water rate structure. He noted that most grantors require a tiered rate system for approval of any grants.
