The 2026 Election is for the offices of Assistant Mayor and two Council Member positions. Here are your candidates:

For the Assistant Mayor position there is one candidate – Brandon Sweeney.

Brandon Sweeney
I have served on the Keedysville Council and Water Commission since August of 2020 and was chosen to fill the Assistant Mayor position in February of 2021. I am a mechanical engineer by trade and have worked in various industries throughout my career, including another water and sewer commission. My goal is and continues to be to serve this community by making it the best that it can be, not just for my family but for everyone in town. I am always open to hearing others’ opinions or concerns, and I want everyone to know that my door is always open. Thank you for allowing me to serve in the positions I have for the past years.

For the two Council Member positions, there are five candidates – Sarah Bennett, Skadi Cooke, Matthew Hull, Judith Kerns, and Christopher Rhoderick.

Sarah Bennett
My name is Sarah Bennett, and I currently serve as a member of the town Planning and Zoning Commission, and as a leader for a local Girl Scout troop. I will also serve as the Boonsboro Middle School PTO Treasurer for the 26/27 school year. In addition, I have worked as an election judge for Federal and State elections for the past two election cycles and will continue in that role in the upcoming election.

My family and I moved to Keedysville from the Midwest four years ago, and we have loved the kindness
this town has shown us since the day we arrived. Keedysville is a great town with a strong sense of
community and history.

If elected, I hope to serve the town by speaking to residents, supporting responsible planning, and
helping ensure that Keedysville continues to move forward while preserving the history and small-town
character that make it such a wonderful place to live. I would be honored to represent and serve the
residents of Keedysville.

Skadi Cooke
My name is Skadi Cooke, and I’m running to become one of the town council members for Keedysville. Even though I have only lived here for two years, my commitment to the betterment of our community is clear. First, I found a host for (and now manage) our Community Pantry. Additionally, I write and distribute a monthly newsletter, The Keedysville Forager, to help connect residents with services and activities in the area. Finally, I served as a member of the Green Team for the majority of 2025.

As a council member, I would advocate for additional events and opportunities for community members to come together. Additionally, I would do my best to advocate for some sort of public transportation that departs and arrives in Keedysville. I would also work with other councilmembers to develop a reliable community cooling and heating center for our more vulnerable residents.

Matthew Hull
I have many years of experience serving Keedysville as a Council Member and as Mayor. I haven’t messed it up, too bad, yet.

Christopher Rhoderick
I was born and raised in Keedysville, and this town has always been home to me. Growing up here shaped my values, my work ethic, and my appreciation for the sense of community that makes Keedysville special. As an adult, I have built a professional career focused on
responsibility, problem-solving, and working with people to achieve practical results – skills I believe translate directly to effective local governance.

My decision to seek election to the Town Council is rooted in a desire to give back to the community that gave me so much. Keedysville’s strength lies in its balance of tradition, thoughtful growth, and neighborly connection. I believe Town leadership should protect that balance by making informed, fiscally responsible decisions while listening carefully to residents and business owners alike.

If elected, I will approach the role with respect for differing viewpoints, a commitment to transparency, and a focus on long-term stability rather than short-term solutions. I am not running with a single issue in mind, but with the intention of being a steady, engaged, and accessible representative who puts the best interests of Keedysville first.

It would be an honor to serve the town I have always called home.
